Weekend Plans.

Lets face it, winter is here. This weekend poses some options for all.

Saturday November 6th 2010
1) Edge of the World Snowboard Party in Banner Elk, NC.
EOW facebook and website.
Only info I know about - Store opens at 10 am, up to 75% off on last years products, raffles throughout the day, big glove boxing, skate comp starts around 12 noon, double movie premiere around 6:30 (movies showing are Cheers and In Color), and snowboard comp starts around 8 or 8:30. Skate comp is free to enter and the snowboard comp is $25 to enter. Not sure if helmets are required. We went to this event last year and it was a blast. After the comp, we were allowed to ride the setup until the shop closed.

2) 3rd Annual Rail Jam at Field of Screams in Mountville, PA.

Five dollar entry, helmets required, starts at 7 pm. We went to this event last year, check the archive for pictures. After the comp we weren't allowed to ride the setup anymore.

3) Cataloochee Ski Area in Maggie Valley, NC.
Cataloochee's facebook and website.
Cataloochee is planning on opening for the season. This is very weather dependent obviously. If they can make enough snow then they will open, if not then they won't. Check their website or facebook for updates and reports. I have never been so I do not know what it is like, Ryan has been so ask him what is up about it. Also I am not sure on what the lift ticket rate will be.

Results: Boo Knob

Got back from Boo Knob this morning at 3 a.m. Ten hours total drive time. Got to shred on some "snow". The comp started with a thirty minute jam session on a short sticky box and the judges picked ten people to move on to the next round. The box was replaced with a ten foot rail, ten people jammed for awhile and the group got eliminated to six. Apparently frontflips on the side of the ramp counts as a rail trick since it is a rail jam. The group of six got a few runs each and had to vote on each other for the final results. After the comp was over it was open to ride for however long we wanted, and we stayed until they cut out the lights. The after session proved to be worth the drive more than the comp itself. We all either learned some new tricks or got our old ones dialed.

Pre-Season Rail Jams - Nov. 6

First jam to drop a date is in Lancaster, PA at Field of Screams, on November 6th. Check last years pics of the setup to have a little idea of what to expect. Also tap that photo below for details on their site.

Timberline Snowy Luau - Rail Jam Finals

This is it, the last of the rail jams at Timberline. The series is coming to an end Saturday March 20th, come out and have some fun in the sun. The points winner of the series wins a brand spankin' new MNMNT snowboard. Last year the last rail jam had a pretty big crowd so hopefully this Saturday's will too. The Snowy Luau is also going on which includes a bunch of other events, check the list of events here.

Rail Jam starts at 1 pm, registration is at 10 to 12:30. Entry fee is $10, park tickets are available for $10 or you need a regular lift ticket.

Tline Rail Jam 2

Rail Jam number 2 at Timberline Resort near Davis, Wv. coming up on Saturday Jan. 30th... We will be there if we can make it up... but if not then I guess we'll be shreddin pow or hittin urban somewhere. But the comps at Timberline are really fun and chill, the only pressures are what you put on yourself. No annoying annoucers, just good tunes and good friends shralping. So try to go and check it out.
