2-8 yard park

Its been snowing a lot lately, so we've finally gotten the chance to build a decent looking hike park in the backyard. Looks like it'll be here for a while too.

Home is where the heart is

Today's efforts were conducted to try to shed some light on a resort (well, one of a few resorts) that almost never sees any exposure. The Homestead itself is a high class resort, mostly focused on golfing and other luxuries. The ski area that they operate is low-key however, which is a shame since they have been operating for over 50 years. I grew up riding there many moons ago, and the place hasnt changed a bit since. It has that old local hill feel to it, and I can't say that I really want that to change.

Anyway, we shot some video today. Coinscidentally, todays stills will also be from the footage, because nick left the camera behind. The park today was way less than par- cut them a good bit of slack though as they just picked up 2" of warm rain a few days ago. Hope to get back up there when conditions are better.

A short vid of today's 2 hour session will be up soon. Holla.

Construction

Twas last night about 11pm that I finally found the initiative to build a rail that I had been contemplating for weeks. Not too hard of a build- completed with 3 2x4's and a 4" diameter pvc pipe. Resulting in fourteen feet of sliding pleasure as shown below.

Rail inventory...

Now to do something with all this snow.........

Friends.

Over the years riding at Snowshoe, we've made many of friends. Here is a couple pictures taken by our friend Sam Perry. Sam's trying to make it in photography like we are trying to make it in snowboarding. We got together in the woods at Silver Creek somewhere and did a little photo shoot on a log bridge thingy set up for mtn biking. Check his website for more pictures of the log session and for his words on how the session went together.

Manmade session

Video from back on the 17th. Obviously it has snowed since then.

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

Today was...

foggy, wet and warm becoming frozen and cold, rainy becoming snowy, full of fun side hits, a few hits on some pulled-outta-the-woods park features (not by us, but they were there, so why not shralp?), unexpectant lift closures, and leftover food.

Honestly, this is how the top of the mountain looked... Fog.

This is the crowd waiting for the lift to start back up, expectantly shut'r down at 2 somethin.

Into the abyss.

Stuck glove, kittens.

Power Thirst

So got my second set of tires on my truck today. Last ones were not so great (Nitto Terra things) So went back and got the good ole BFG All Terrain on there. Much better!!!
So I decided that the truck was running on empty so might as well fill up the tank.
Yea should have taken out a loan to fill the truck up as you can see below.

And I have 4 more gallons of space left in the tank.
